Hey everyone it’s Caitlin here from over at blogging through the mirror and today I’m guest posting for the lovely Hanna! I thought I’d kick this blog post off by doing a DIY face scrub post because who really wants to spend loads of money of face scrubs that you can simply make by yourselves with things around your home!
Baking soda blackhead scrub:
- 1 table spoon of baking soda
- 1 table spoon of plain white sugar
- 2 table spoons of water
Exfoliate before applying this mixture. Mix all the ingredients up in a bowl and apply to exfoliated, damp skin. Scrub gently in circular motions. You can use this once a week.
*This one works really well for my tiny tiny stubborn blackheads on the sides of my nose! i tend to use this when they are really visible and i love this one its natural and has no chemicals that can harm your skin!*
Lemon, salt and sugar scrub:
- 2 table spoons of salt
- juice from half a lemon
- add sugar until the mixture is solid but not dry
Mix up all the ingredients in a bowl and gently massage the scrub into your skin, all over the face and let sit for 2-3 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
*This is a great scrub the salt exfoliates your dry and flaky skin and the lemon dries up your pores and draws out any dirt in your pores the sugar also works as an exfoliator! I find when i use this it brightens my skin and after researching lemon does brighten your complexion so brilliant when i have a dull skin day! I do tend to use a moisturizer after this just to stop the lemon further drying out my skin after I’ve washed the scrub off, just to be on the safe side!*
Banana and sugar face scrub:
- 1 ripe, peeled banana
- 1/4 cup of normal white sugar
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
Mash the banana in a bowl and add both of the sugars into the banana and mix so its a paste like consistency. Massage the paste onto your face and leave for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.
*now i can see you all reading this and saying ‘who on earth in their right mind would put a banana on their face’ the answer to that is me! i have really de-hydrated skin which results in dry flaky skin, now since trying this mask they flaky skin has vanished! this adds moisture to your skin while the brown sugar exfoliates and white sugar digs out dirt in your face. So now tell me would you rather have a banana on your face or dry flaky skin!*
