Review I e.l.f Eyelid Primer in Pearl

The e.l.f eyelid primers seem to be a staple product found in most makeup collections. I actually arrived pretty late to the eyelid primer party as it was about two years ago when I first tried the one from MUA. Although I liked that one a lot, I was curious to try the e.l.f equivalent and see for myself how good it really is, especially given how well reviewed it’s been.

The e.l.f eyelid primer shade that I most wanted to try was Sheer but it was out of stock so in the meantime, I picked up the Pearl one to try instead.

This primer blends out to a sheer and shimmery finish and slightly lightens up the eyelid area. The formula is lightweight and liquid based which makes it less greasy and heavy feeling than some other silicone based eyelid primers. Being liquid based, this primer is especially appropriate for oily eyelids.
The primer is quick and simple to use as it absorbs very quickly when applied in a single thin layer. To use, simply apply a small amount to the eyelid, blend in with your fingertips or a brush and allow to dry before applying eyeshadow.
This eyelid primer performs well. It definitely increases the longevity of eyeshadow, prevents creasing and also slightly enhances color vibrancy, although I don’t think that this last point is something e.l.f even describes it as doing. It’s actually nice to see a brand downplay a product’s capabilities and leave us pleasantly surprised rather than sadly dissapointed.

I’ve really been enjoying using this eyeshadow primer, in fact it’s just about all used up now. Which leads me on to possibly my only gripe with this product; despite being 5 ml it just doesn’t seem to last very long and I also found that it dried up a little bit towards the end. But perhaps I’m expecting too much from this budget primer!
I have a feeling that some of the other three shades of this eyelid primer from e.l.f may eclipse the performance of pearl and sheer in particular seems to be the most popular by far. But I now have all four basic e.l.f eyelid primers and the e.l.f mineral eyelid primer in my possession to try out!

It’s also perhaps worth mentioning that I have come to prefer this eyelid primer over the MUA one as this isn’t as greasy although they both perform about on par with one another in my opinion.

This product does pack quite a punch for the price and if you can take advantage of some of the amazing deals e.l.f UK offer from time to time, you may be able to pick this up for even less than half price! I will repurchase this product in the future as it does what it says on the packet and you can’t really go wrong for the price!
Have you tried an eyelid primer from e.l.f yet?

  1. I love the Elf eye lid primer, I think it is a great dupe for the Urban Decay Primer Potion for a lot less money.
