Do you need some quick and easy DIY Halloween Decor Ideas? You’ve come to the right place if you do because I’ve got 5 great ideas to share with you.
Halloween, otherwise known as All Hallows’ Eve, always comes back around frightfully fast each year. It’s almost as if somebody, or something, is playing a trick on me because despite having all year to plan and prepare, there is never enough time to get properly ready and before I can say boo to a ghost, Halloween has snuck up on me and is here once again!
If like me, you’re looking for a few quick and easy DIY Halloween decor ideas that will work a treat, look no further
These are some of my favourite, fail-safe easy DIY Halloween Decor ideas that are both fast and fun to make.
Did I mention they’re really cheap too?!
Most, if not all, of the macabre materials you’ll need to create these hellish homemade Halloween decorations are in fact just useless bits of terrifying tat that can likely be found in and around your home and put to terribly good
baduse.
P.S.Just in case you have no time for homemade horrors this year and need shop bought Halloween decor recommendations, I’ve also included a list of some of my favourite items as well as the best places to purchase bone chilling bargains the end of this post.
But first, let me introduce my hopefully rather horrid top 5 homemade Halloween decorations! And,
#1: Party Perfect Pumpkins
Pumpkins are readily available to buy from lots of places at the moment including most supermarkets and local market stalls.
They’re pretty cheap and you can expect to pay £1 or £2 for a decent, medium-sized pumpkin. But don’t leave it too late because most years they sell out quick. And you don’t want to be left with a misshapen, pathetic and sorry-looking excuse for a pumpkin because all the good ones have been snapped up, do you?
If you’re feeling particularly inspired and adventurous or if you want to get out and about this Autumn, maybe you could try pumpkin picking! Yes, picking your own pumpkins from a great big muddy field full of glorious pumpkin goodness is actually a ‘real thing’ these days! It’s a bit like strawberry picking in the Summer, only it’s with pumpkin picking in the Autumn! And they’re a lot bigger and more of a yellowy red shade… OK, so pumpkin picking is probably quite a lot different to strawberry picking!
Once you’ve got your hands on a pumpkin, that’s when the fun really starts as you can carve out a creative design.
Pumpkin Art
You could take the traditional route and create a scary face straight from your imagination. Or you could take the craftier and more modern approach of tracing a spooky design from a template and transfer said spooky design onto the pumpkin with a good old soft pencil. Then all you have to do is simply follow the guideline and carve out your intricate masterpiece!
The only limitation here is your imagination and perhaps how finely honed your pumpkin carving skills are… Try not to be too ambitious with your first attempt as it’s trickier than it looks to create a work of pumpkin art!
Pumpkin carving can be a messy business too so if you’re not feeling the seed and pulp clean-up operation that comes after, you could have a go at pumpkin painting instead.
If you’re having a Halloween party, you could hold a competition for the best pumpkins. Just invite each guest to bring along their finished pumpkin creations and then you can appoint a judge and even hand out prizes for the best pumpkins in various categories!
#2: Spectacularly Spooky Spiders
It’s easy to create your own spiders using black paper for the body, pipe cleaners for the legs and if you’re feeling fiendishly fancy, add a pair of grotesquely gruesome googly eyes.
These creepy little critters can be scattered around anywhere you like; they stand out particularly well on top of pumpkins. If you want to make your guests’ skin crawl, attach a thin piece of string and hang them from the ceiling, letting them dangle down.
#3: Spine-tingling Silhouettes
Just grab some plain black paper and cut out simple bat, cat and spider shapes. Attach some string and hang these up around the house.
Create creepy little clusters of these silhouettes for an even more chilling effect.
#4: Gruesomely Grimy Gravestones
With a little bit of cardboard, it’s easy to make basic 2D gravestones.
Simply cut a flat piece of cardboard into a tombstone-esque shape of your choice and paint grey.
If you’re feeling ambitious, you can create a 3D version for that little bit of extra revolting realism.
Add a final touch of terror by write on the finished gravestones. Try to come up with some spooky epitaphs such as Roses are red, Violets are blue, He came for me, And he’ll come for you. You can use humorous names on them too like Barry D’aAlive, Yul B. Next and Dee Parted.
Once again, the only limit is your imagination!
Keep them in position outdoors by attaching a spiky piece of wood or coat hanger and sticking them firmly into the ground.
#5: Gory ghoulish Ghosts
Simply grab some white paper and cut out some ghost shapes and colour in some piercing black eyes. These will look absolutely ghoulish when stuck up on windows.
That’s it for my top 5 last-minute homemade and easy DIY Halloween decor ideas!
