This Carex Unicorn Magic Hand Wash from Cussons is just what I need in my life right now because I’m a bit of a frequent hand washer. In fact, whilst cooking breakfast yesterday, I washed my hands no less than seven times. Obsessive and unnecessary? Or simply adhering to recommended standards for good food hygiene? Even I’m not sure how I feel about it but I definitely don’t want to give anybody food poisoning or unnecessarily spread germs so I choose to scrub my hands often and thoroughly, especially when preparing food.

This Carex Fun Edition hand wash comes in their usual square shaped plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. The Unicorn and rainbow design on the front is cute and the product itself is a pretty lilac colour.
Possibly the main selling point of this hand wash for a lot of people is the smell: it has the exact same and unmistakable smell of Parma Violets! So if you like those dinky little sweeties, you’ll probably love this!
Carex has previously made other Fun Edition sweetie themed hand washes including Cola Bottles, Bubblegum, Love Hearts, Strawberry Laces and Chocolate Orange. I think this Carex Unicorn Magic hand wash is basically just a Parma Violets variation of the sweetie theme dressed up in Unicorn packaging.
Let’s face it, Unicorn merchandise is everywhere these days and tapping into that trend will undoubtedly make this product a better seller than if it was branded as a Parma Violets retro sweetie themed product. This is marketing spin at it’s best, as it’s completely harmless fun and don’t we all just love it! I for one am totally digging this Unicorn Magic concept! It’s really not like Carex are selling us anything we don’t want is it? Unicorn stuff is hot, hot, hot right now!

This Carex Fun Edition Unicorn Magic Hand Wash is an antibacterial hand wash that needs to be left on the skin for long enough to take effect. It has the usual gel-like consistency one would expect from a liquid hand soap and I don’t find it too awkwardly slippy or runny. Some liquid soaps have a nasty habit of just sliding straight off my hand and running down the sink before I’ve even had chance to use it. Not this one though!
Use 2 pumps, a little water, wash for 15 seconds then rinse.
This hand wash is actually quite gentle on the hands as it doesn’t dry them out nearly as much as some others products. Even exposing your hands to water can dry them out a bit and the last thing you want to do is strip them further of their protective oils with overly harsh cleansing products.

This is a fun product that can be used by all the family. I think it would be especially useful for helping children get into the habit of washing their hands. There’s even a matching shower gel in this product range that looks like it would be a lot of fun to use as well!

Okay, why have I been buying boring old ‘normal’ handwash when this is an option available! I didn’t even know this existed! Honestly, if the shops were still open I’d go out now and try and find it – where did you buy it again?
I used to absolutely love parma violets when I was younger although I haven’t had them for years, does the smell last? Definitely a child’s dream to smell like a sweetie haha! I’ve made the boyfriend read this post too so he knows what to buy next time! 😉

The scent lingers a little, although not much, but there is a nice big burst of fragrance while using it which is really nice. It has that unmistakable Parma Violets smell which is so true to life! Hope you can find it and enjoy it and don’t forget there’s a shower gel version too!
